More than two billion people is using Facebook, and just a thought they could see your business page should be motivating enough. Setting it up is rather simple, and absolutely free, and soon you will recognise all the benefits that having a Facebook page brings.
Except being free and simple, Facebook page is a strictly public profile (which means you can not set it to private), meant to promote your business, brand or organization, or even yourself if you are a public person. Google is indexing Facebook pages, and you might find it a great way to connect with your customers. It shows information about your business such as your address, phone number, working hours , type of business etc.

Fill in your business info

So, filling out your business info should be your starting point, and this is what Facebook will also ask you to do first.
After adding basic information about your business, which we strongly recommend filling all of it, there is a section called “about”. This is where you should get creative! Although visitors can not see it when they open your page, it is still the first thing they will click, to search for more information. Add general description about your business, your mission and goals, or even your story, written briefly and with a touch of unique. This section represents you, and it might be crucial for your visitors if they will like your page or not.
Add a profile picture
Your profile picture must be recognizable to your visitors. The most common options are company logo, or your (professional) photo if you are making a page for yourself.

Being recognized is important to getting found and liked, and also easily picked in Facebook search. It shows as a thumbnail when you comment other posts, or when you reply to messages in Messenger. Also, it is one of the few things that is posted on the top of your page, so it gives a good (or bad) first impression.
Can you imagine, for example, a Coca Cola FB page without a profile picture? Most of us would think it’s fake, right? You got the point.
Add an interesting cover photo
Your cover photo takes the most space on your page, so make it sure it is high-quality and engaging to your customers. Imagine it like a shop window for your brand.
You can create it by yourself (or ask someone else to do it), and it can look like a small landing page. Or you can change it now and then, create call-to-actions or events, and post a new one within occasion. Check the preferred dimensions on the link posted above, and be aware that it will be smaller on smartphones, so try not to put text near the borderlines.
Use a photo that presents your brand in style and color. If you can match it with your profile picture and/or your logo, it would be great.
Add a call-to-action button
The most common is “send message” button, but you can adapt this section to your needs. For example, you can direct visitors to your web page, or have them booked a termin, which depends on your product.

Pin posts to the top of the page
You have an important announcement? No problem. You can “glue” it to always stay at the top of your posts, which is more efficient than reposting it again and again. It is the best way to promote new offers, events or any kind of messages.
Post photos and videos
In almost every post we are repeating how important is to have a high-quality content on your web page, and your social media pages. That is including a lot of photos and videos. It has became a requirement.
Same goes for your Facebook page: every post must be accompanied with an appropriate photo, and whenever it’s possible turn your statements into videos. You should invest some time (and other resources) in creating a high-quality content, so that your efforts don’t go unnoticed.
Determine when and how much to post
If you don’t upload new content to your FB page regularly, it will not look authentic and your visitors will not take your seriously. On the other hand, overcrowding it is also not good, especially with your products, because people don’t like to be pushed.
There are some great (free) social media calendars you can use to keep track of your posts. It can help you to set up a schedule when to share posts connected with some kind of events, holidays, or seasons. You can easily schedule posts on your Facebook page, so you don’t miss anything. It will take some time upfront, but it will be easier for you later on.
Keep track of comments on your page
If you have read any of our other posts, you may also notice we keep mentioning the importance of engaging with your followers. One way to do that on your Facebook page is to answer on the comments they leave. Maybe it won’t be necessary to respond to every comment, especially later when it will be a lot of them, but make sure to not leave their questions unanswered.
Another important thing, why you should monitor all conversations which are happening on your page, is to prevent any kind of unwanted speech, which breaks yours or Facebook’s policies.
Promote your FB page
To increase your page’s visibility, you need people to find out about it. You can promote it on other social networks, your web page, your marketing materials, events and newsletters.
Facebook has a range of paid options you can use, such as promoted posts, sponsored stories and Facebook ads.
Optimize your page for search engines. It seems nobody is thinking about that when creating one, but Google is indexing your page, and you should fill in all the important sections with keywords.
As a lot of us don’t like math and numbers, we are prone to ignore Facebook Insights. Which is a big mistake, of course. With a help of it, you can determine what and when you should post, to achieve maximum efficiency.
Did you even know this data can be downloaded as spreadsheets? Me neither.
It contains a lot of different (and useful) information about your page and posts. By comparing it, you will be able to determine which of your posts achieved maximum efficiency, and when that happened, so you can predict when is the best time to post. You might need some Excel skills to do that, though.
A few “don’t” tips
Never use a personal profile for your business, instead of a page. Not even if you are a public person, and your brand is your name. You will be limited to accept maximum 5000 friends, and also you will not have an opportunity to use tools, promotions and analytics, which are the most important things.
Avoid publishing mistakes. It is easy to switch between your profile and your page, and it can happen that you accidentally publish your personal post to your page. Be careful about it.
Choose only high-quality photos for your posts (not to mention your profile and cover photo!), and avoid anything it looks fake. Forced poses and smiles, unnatural lightning and bad resolution are a big NO. It will look cheap and lazy to your visitors.
